Now that the first topic is out of the way, here's
how we do it:
Rebuilding Hope depends on the
generosity of Christian people and other folks with a
heart for what we do to provide the funds, materials
and labor to meet the demands of our projects. We are a
volunteer organization with no paid employees. But
that's the only way we can make those otherwise
expensive repairs at no cost to the homeowner.
Some jobs must have the materials on hand before it can
ever start. You wouldn't strip off your roof
without having the new roofing material ready to
install immediately. And neither would we. If a porch
needs to be replaced, it's neither practical nor
safe to remove the old one and stick an old paint
bucket in its place to make do until the material appears from
somewhere. It ain't likely to happen.
And of course, workers have to be at the jobsite when the
materials are on the site. New shingles won't do any good until someone who
knows the trade is there to put them on.
If you are looking for a hands-on ministry, we have plenty for you to put your
hands on. Visit our projects
website to check out the work we have in
progress or soon to begin. Your church group or social
club is invited to help Rebuilding Hope make
someone's hard time a little bit easier. We'll give
you a place to stay and something to eat and plenty to
occupy your time.
Think about it.
Rebuilding Hope accepts donations of used furniture and appliances to be distributed to people who need it. Of course, all donations are tax deductible. We evaluate donated appliances then repair the usable ones to safe and dependable working order and salvage as much as we can from the unusable ones.
Donated furniture is usually distributed as is. If all a piece of furniture needs is tightening or other minor repairs, we will do that but cleaning and painting is up to the recipient.
